Keep Hope Alive

Covey's final thought is a quote from Moaward, "You can't make footprints int he sands of time by sitting on your butt.  And who wants to leave buttprints in the sands of time?"

What is your "flight" plan in order to leave footprints instead of buttprints in the sands of time?

  1. I, for one, have started a journal & I am writing in it every day. (Well, almost every day)
It’s helping me realize many things about myself and my bad temper and my character. It shows me and my flaws, all written out there for me to analyze & repair. I am also following the baby steps which are written in my little book of lists. I look at them every day when I wake up and before I react to a problem. They’re my guides. I am attempting to follow them conscientiously…

  2. What I do is repeat my mission statement in the morning and when ever I feel discourage. Gives me a form of hope, power, will. It reminds me if I try hard enough I can succeed. I also try to make more deposits in my pba and my rba. At the end of the day I often look back at what I did or said and ask myself why I did that so I can learn more about my self and my flaws.

  3. What I do is that I keep sticky notes all over my desk. They say things like, "Sciencefair project due the 19" and, "Make sure you go to the highschool fair on Saturday the 10!" Stuff like that. It really helps me because then I won't forget things. But it doesn't only have school stuff, it also has personal stuff like, "Melissa's birthday is on Tuesday don't forget to get her a present!" I think this will help in making footprints in the sands of time rather than buttprints.

  4. What I do is that I leave myself plenty of reminders of what I want to accomplish. Some ways I do this is by: leaving notes everywhere about events, assignments, or goals I have. I include what it is I have to complete but also by when I should accomplish it. Also, everyday I repeat my mission statement to myself which helps me remember what I want to accomplish in life. By doing this the idea of what my mission is, will be with me throughout my activities.

  5. What I do is write on my diary everyday, well almost everyday. In my diary I write important dates like for example “Inquiry Project due on Wednesday, or
“Science fair due next week,” stuff like that. I write about myself, and I sometimes even rewrite my mission statement. By writing all of this in my diary, I stay on track, and it somehow gives me a form of hope. It reminds me that if I try hard enough, I can succeed. I think this will help in making footprints in the sands of time rather than buttprints.

  6. What I am doing is reminding myself to do things, I remind myself by writing important dates or other important information in my agenda. I look at my agenda everyday and that helps me be on track and to try my best at things. I think that is how I’ll leave footprints instead of butt prints.

  7. What I do is I constantly remind myself of my goals, also I always have the mission state in my mind. That keeps me going. I also write in a diary, in there I include important dates to remember, or like if I do a good deed I put it in my diary as well. So far, I believe that I have done a good deed(s) everyday. This makes me really happy. What I do also is I try to make a deposit in my PBA and my RBA. When the day is over, I smile, because doing things like this make me happy. It gives me a form of hope.

  8. My flight plan to leave footprints in the sands of time is to write what I did everyday. I am going to live my normal life but, at the end of the day I’m going to write in a journal what I did. This is going to help because writing in the journal is going to help me realize what my time wasters were, and what I didn’t do, that I should have done. Once I realize what I did wrong I would write it down and the next day I would look at it and see what not to do for the day. This is going to help keep my butt out of the sands of time.

  10. What I do is also write on sticky notes to remind me of important things to do like work or parties(Or to just have an excuse to put sticky notes all over the place).

  11. What I do write things down in my calender. The calender is right in front of my bedroom door so, it's impossible to not remember things (but I got used to it being there that I don't recognize it that much). So this does not happen I write things down on my computer.

  12. What I do to keep hope alive is to write goals for myself at the beginning of the week and follow to that goal. I also try to focus on what I can be if try hard enough in school and in life. Sometimes I wonder that if I try hard enough I can grow to be a somebody living in a mansion with a yaht and a jet with an ocean in my back yard.

  13. I have reminders in my agenda and on my dresser to remind me of assignments. This way when I have free time I can look at the assignments and start or continue one of them. This helps me get a couple steps forward instead of just sitting around doing nothing. This helps me prevent myself from falling to far behind.

  14. In order for me to not leave any butt prints, I’m doing some of the suggestions that Sean Covey mentions in his book. I am now setting reminders for myself in important places that I am always looking at, like my binder, on the computer, or in my room. This is certainly helping me because, now I am a little more organized, and now I don’t forget what I have to do on time. I also write other important things like, birthdays, reminders for things that I’ve been asked to do, or reminders for other things that I have to do with my family. I also look over at my mission statement when I am feeling discouraged, or just need some encouragement. These methods are really helping me develop new skills and they are helping me stay organize so that I can be a more effective teen. Instead of leaving butt prints in the sand, I am leaving footprints now.

  15. What I do is repeat my mission statement in the morning and when ever I feel discourage. Whenever I say my statement I feel empowered with courage and I feel great and encouraged whenever I say that and I never want to give up. This is what I do now.

  16. I plan to never quit when life gets hard and to keep moving forward. I will become more organized, use my time wisely, and break the habit of being lazy. By doing this I will leave footprints instead of butt prints.

  17. Something my parents suggested that I should try to keep a journal. I do try to write in my journal, but I only like to write in it if something fun or interesting happens.

  18. What I do to leave footprints instead of buttprints is leave reminders in my room, on my agenda, and on the fridge about homework assignments or places I have to be for something important like the high school fair. If I don't take action, I won't succeed and I will be leaving buttprints.

  19. I keep my own personal private journal, in that journal I take at least half an hour to write on. I write my thoughts and the highlights of my day, my thoughts and personal reminders of mostly school work, inspirational quotes, and goals I set for myself to try and accomplish them and do my best. This helps me keep going and trying harder each day.

  21. What I’m doing is keeping a journal. Where I write down things going on in my life at the moment. Things that I worry about, and other important things I try to write in it everyday when I have a chance. I also write down important dates when things are due. It helps me keep track of my life and stay organized.

  22. Like in the movie “Meet the Robinsons” its message is KEEP MOVING FORWARD! By reminding myself this I know not to give up even if life is taking all you have away from you. Many things happen and at the end you have to learn from does things that can really affect you if you let them. Instead of leaving butt prints I remind myself to keep moving forward no matter what so I can leave footprints.
